Perioral Dermatitis: Effective Natural Treatment

Perioral dermatitis, or POD, can be effectively treated naturally with plant oils and wonderful plant-based actives.

What is Perioral Dermatitis?

Perioral dermatitis is a skin condition that can be caused by cosmetics, topical use of cortisone, fluoride-containing water, or even toothpaste. It manifests as redness, small blisters around the nose, mouth, and sometimes the eyes. The skin is dry and itchy. It feels tight, flakes, and can sometimes appear as patches.

In this situation, we tend to apply even more cosmetics because we think it will help. In reality, we worsen the problem. People suffering from this condition will try different cosmetic brands in the hope of resolving the issue. The more greasy a cream is (occlusive silicones), the more likely it is to worsen the skin's condition.

Misdiagnosis... and Consequences

Often, Perioral Dermatitis (POD) is diagnosed as eczema and treated with cortisone. At the beginning of treatment, there is often an improvement, but very quickly, there will be a deterioration again. You quickly fall into a vicious circle.

The Solution... the Cosmetic Diet!

No, it's not a dietary diet, although in some people, perioral dermatitis is exacerbated by the consumption of gluten or lactose. Here, I'm talking about a cosmetic diet. It's time for a reset!

What to Stop!

- Cosmetics, even organic ones
- Cortisone
- Occlusive plant oils like Shea Butter, Jojoba, or Macadamia.
- Makeup, if possible (mineral makeup if necessary)

What to Do to Get Rid of Perioral Dermatitis

- Organic Liniment
- Organic Chamomile Hydrosol
- Organic Sensicalm Premium Serum

The liniment- Cleanser

A gentle cleanser suitable for all skin types but with a basic pH. To help your skin restore a normal pH, a second round (double cleansing) with a hydrosol should be done. The liniment is applied like a conventional cleansing milk on a washable or cotton pad. No need for water, just swipe it all over your face, neck, and décolleté.

Chamomile Matricaria Hydrosol

Chamomile Matricaria Hydrosol has soothing and repairing properties. Its slightly acidic pH helps the skin regain a normal pH. Hydrosols are compatible with pregnancy and breastfeeding. Spray on a cotton pad and wipe the entire face and neck.

Organic Sensicalm Premium Serum

Apply a bit of Sensicalm Premium Serum only to the red areas. You can add it as often as you like to calm irritations. It contains plant oils like:
- Avocado
- Safflower
- Baobab
- Hemp
- Sea Buckthorn seeds

It also contains a wonderful plant-based cork-derived active ingredient with proven effectiveness in reducing redness!

The Daily Routine

Morning and evening:
- Liniment
- Chamomile Matricaria Hydrosol
Anytime during the day, apply Sensicalm Serum to the red areas.

Your skin will react and may look worse. Don't give up! The skin will start to regain its balance. In some people, the result is very quick (4 days!) and for others, it takes between 4-8 weeks.

Help your skin with a diet rich in Omega-3 and hydrate by drinking 1-2 liters of water per day.

I personally suffered from perioral dermatitis, and it's horrible and very uncomfortable. Thanks to this diet and a new routine, I was able to get rid of a problem that had been bothering me for months! Many customers have also succeeded in saying goodbye to POD!

Success lies in perseverance! Throw away all conventional cosmetics! Note that sometimes POD can return, even with a natural routine, but its appearance is shorter because you know what to do. In 7 years, I had two small "relapses" caused by stress.
